For Want of a Nail...the Kingdom was Lost

Still Embroiled in Corona Virus - Just Little Details Getting Done

But, the devil is in the details after all.  Unfortunately, with one large project in need of doin', my job's response to the pandemic still has me incredibly tied up.  But, some small things that need to be done are getting done.  One detail taken care of in May, was replacing a board on the front stoop:

Board and front stoop stained

And now the front stoop, new board and all, have been re-stained, and once again all is right with the world!

And there's more!

Way back in December of 2011, a new door and windows were installed in the front porch.  And in all the years since, it wasn't until last fall that it was noticed the door trim was starting to look rough.  As it turns out, rough is putting it lightly...

Northside woes

Okay, woes is a bit dramatic, but the small stoop on the north side of 173 was beginning to show some age, even though it was just redone in 2015 (wow, typing that made me realize it's been 5 years already!), the rain coming off the roof did a number on the little stoop.  Well, it's been restained, and I think I need to get some step tape to put where the rain falls.

Now things are all spiffed up!

A little closer look, just for the record!

For want of a nail...

Not a lot of fancy, flashy stuff here, but these are just some of the mundane, routine details that have to be tended to. And, although this poem is attributed to an Anonymous poet, for some reason it always makes me think of Richard III...
For want of a nail the shoe was lost.
For want of a shoe the horse was lost.
For want of a horse the rider was lost.
For want of a rider the battle was lost.
For want of a battle the kingdom was lost.
And all for the want of a horseshoe nail.  -Anon
